Is the circuit board mostly green? There’s a lot of subtlety to it

If you are asked what color the circuit board is, I believe everyone’s first reaction is green. Admittedly, most of the finished products in the PCB industry are green. But with the development of technology and the needs of customers, a variety of colors have emerged. Back to the source, why are the boards mostly green? Let’s talk about it today!

The green part is called a solder block. These ingredients are resins and pigments, the green part is green pigments, but with the development of modern technology, has been extended to many other colors. It is no different from decorative paint. Before soldering is printed on the circuit board, solder resistance is paste and flow. After printing on the circuit board, the resin hardens due to heat and eventually “cures.” The purpose of resistance welding is to prevent the circuit board from moisture, oxidation and dust. The only place that is not covered by the solder block is usually called a pad and is used for solder paste.

 

In general, we choose green because it does not irritate the eyes, and it is not easy for production and maintenance personnel to stare at PCB for a long time. In design, the commonly used colors are yellow, black and red. The colors are painted on the surface after it has been manufactured.

 

Another reason is that the commonly used color is green, so the factory has the most spare green paint, so the cost of oil is relatively low. This is also because when servicing a PCB board, different wiring is easier to distinguish from white, while black and white are relatively difficult to see. In order to distinguish its product grades, each factory uses two colors to distinguish the high-end series from the low-end series. For example, Asus, a computer motherboard company, yellow board is low end, blackboard is high end. Yingtai’s rebound is high-end, and the green board is low-end.

There are signs on the circuit board: The beginning of R is the resistor, the beginning of L is the inductor coil (usually the coil is wound around the iron core ring, some housing is closed), the beginning of C is the capacitor (tall cylindrical, wrapped in plastic, electrolytic capacitors with cross indentation, flat chip capacitors), the other two legs are diodes, three legs are transistors, and many legs are integrated circuits.
